I stayed at The Paws Inn with my mom and our three smallish dogs around the Thanksgiving holiday. If you're looking for a getaway in the Bethel, Maine area AND... read more you're a pet owner, this is definitely the place for you. Unlike other inns in the area that claim to be "pet friendly", your pets are welcome to stay in your room even when you leave the premises. The pet play area off the kitchen is perfect for letting your dogs out if you don't have time to take them for a walk. The kitchen and living room/dining room are cozy and super clean, considering this is a dog friendly inn!
Carolyn, the innkeeper, is lovely and laid back. She makes your visit feel warm and welcome, like you're staying at a friend's house rather than at an inn. Carolyn's breakfasts are delicious! Her baked eggs and french toast are absolutely decadent! If you're looking for a quick breakfast, she puts out cereals and granola bars and keeps a fridge stocked with beverages for the guests. Kip, her German Shepherd/Collie mix is such a sweetheart, and got along well with my three dogs.
The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, featuring a queen size bed, sizable closet (large enough to fit plenty of luggage), two upholstered chairs, a flat screen TV with cable, and a roomy bathroom with walk-in shower. There was even space for an inflatable queen mattress on the floor. The inn offers free, fast wi-fi which was a huge plus! I was worried about being cold but the heating is great, and the thermostat is right outside the room for easy control.
The Paws Inn is super affordable and honestly the best place in Bethel for pet owners. Definitely pay it a visit; you won't be disappointed!

We had a great visit! Very pet and people friendly. Her breakfasts were amazing, lots of snacks during the day, and very easy access to Sunday River. Our dog had... read more a great day while we were skiing both playing with the other pets outside and getting to hang out with Kim and the proprietor Bailey. We would highly recommend to anyone with pets summer or winter!

We were delighted to stay with Carol after many years absence. Here's the thing -- if you have a dog, and you care about their well-being while you're out skiing... read more or to dinner, there is no better place to stay.
The inn itself is wonderful. Clean, cozy and Carol does everything possible to make sure you have whatever makes you happy. So there's that. But nothing compares to coming home after leaving your dog with a stranger to see that you pooch is totally happy and calm. Better? When you leave the next day and your creature spends the day with Carol, once again, your pup is happy to spend the day with her new best friend.
So, there you have it. A great inn, wonderful innkeeper and a secure and happy place for your little beast!
